About Overseas Intel

Overseas Intel is a free tool for US students weighing a UK or Ireland university against, or alongside, a US college list — no account, using each country's own real admissions system instead of a US-style percentile band.

Where the data comes from

UK entry requirements and admissions data come from UCAS and individual universities' own published course pages. Irish entry requirements come from the CAO and Irish universities' published points requirements. We don't convert your SAT or ACT score into a fake-precise UCAS points or CAO points equivalent — the two systems don't map onto each other cleanly enough for that to be honest, so instead each course shows what it actually publishes as its requirement, and the calculator tells you clearly whether your score clears it.

Who builds this

Overseas Intel is being built together with three cousins while they're actually in the middle of the college admissions process — running into the same problems from every direction, in real time: conflicting advice scattered across forums and blogs, stats repeated so often they sounded true whether or not they held up, no honest “chance me” tool that didn't just want an account or hand back a confident-looking guess, and the financial side — sticker price versus what a school would actually cost — nearly impossible to pin down clearly. They wanted one place to actually find real answers instead of piecing it together across a dozen half-trustworthy sites, so that's what got built, as they were going through it rather than after the fact.

It's built by Fuselyn, a small family of tools for each stage of getting through college — finding out where you stand, applying, and staying on track once you're enrolled.
